Considered as an effective skin protector, aloe vera plant is generally part of the lily family. Do you know that there are more than 300 varieties of the Aloe plant in the world? The Aloe barbadensis variety is known for producing a thin, clear gel-like substance that provides relief for common skin irritations. Another substance, known as aloe vera latex, is obtained from the inner leaf skin of the plant.
